Eden Back After the Fall
I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that I have signed a contract with W Publishing Group, a division of Thomas Nelson—the largest Christian publisher—to write a book. It'll be directed at women like myself who need a strong, motivational, and deeply moral message to counter the ones they receive from a sex-obsessed world. It's called The Thrill of the Chaste and will come out a year from now.
The bad news is that between my blog, my column, my job, and my impending entrance into RCIA, I am dangerously overextended. Many of you already know this by the fact that I am often slack at responding to e-mails (please don't take it personally if you're one of those whose message has gone unreturned). With my book due in three months, something has to go.
And so, I announce sorrowfully that The Dawn Patrol is going into hibernation until I finish my book, which will likely be just when it's due, in the middle of January.
Planned Parenthood et al should hold off their rejoicing, as I'll still monitor the culture of death. My blogger friends and acquaintances can expect to get missives from time to time alerting them to PP's or NARAL's latest outrage.
During the next day or two, I will post the rest of my stepfather's "Greatest Love Story Ever Told" when I receive it. The new installments will appear below. I will add a few "Best of Dawn Patrol" posts below as well, for anyone who happens to stumble upon this page, plus I'll update the blogroll from time to time. I'll also update my main page with new photos and links. Other than that, this is it until the book's done.
If you would like me to notify you when I resume blogging, please e-mail me, dawn -at- dawneden.com (replace the -at- with an atsign), and I'll send you a heads-up. Even if you're a close friend of mine, I'd ask you to zip me an e-mail, as I don't have all my close friends' addresses in my address book—many of them I keep in my head. This way, I'll have all the addresses in one place. If you don't want to write a message, just send a blank e-mail with "Dawn Patrol" in the header and I'll put you on the list.
As a bonus, readers who ask to be on the Dawn Patrol notification list will also get a sneak preview of one or more sections of my book as I write it. I'd love to get your feedback.
The remaining installments of my "How I Became the Catholic I Wuz" series will appear when I return.
Thanks so much to everyone who's written to me, including fellow bloggers, and all the (polite!) commenters. I would love to name names, only I'm afraid of leaving someone out. You know who you are. You've brought me great joy and laughter, enlightened me, and enriched my life. Catholic readers can also take credit for helping draw me into the Church—after you initially put me off from it with your being so sure that you were right. (I know; all the converts fight it.) I love you all and I expect an enormous gap to open in my life shortly. I'll try to fill it through burying myself in my book-writing, but it won't be the same. That's why I'll be back in January, God willing. God bless you.
